{A Rustic Wedding} – a post on Embellish Event Styling & Floral Design

Jen Schmidt of Embellish Event Styling and Floral Design, and I had such a wonderful time at the Inn at Valley Farm, we wanted to share some more of the photos we captured last May.

Jen did a fabulous job with the gorgeous rustic themed wedding flowers and bouquets.  I found it hard to limit the amount of photos I was taking of her work.   Jen out did herself on this photo shoot with Salmon colored long stemmed Tulips,  multiple bouquets, Sunflowers in rustic pails, and an elegant outdoor table setting in the field on the farm.

Since I know more about photography than I do about flowers, I asked Jen to guest blog to describe her rustic wedding themed flowers first hand. Embellish Event Styling & Floral Design specializes in weddings styling and design as well as wedding flowers. Embellish is based in Keene, NH but Jen travels all over New Hampshire and is often delivering wedding flowers to nearby Walpole, NH.

Jen recalls, “I was most inspired by the actual location of the Inn at Valley Farms and community of Walpole more than anything else. I wanted the flowers and decor to complement, not compete with the natural beauty of the Inn and property. When you are at the Inn you get the sense of a history of farm living. To go along with that I wanted the decor to be rustic-elegant with a vintage feel.”

“For the inside of the barn I went with slightly more subdued color palette. I chose an apple green silk dupioni linen which contrasted against the rustic white washed walls  of the barn. The fresh green also made for a perfect setting upon which vintage milk glass compotes which seemed to spill over with richly textured blooms. ‘Versillia’ roses, raspberry sweet peas, ivory tuberoses, crisp white peonies, velvety dusty miller were combined with deep green ivy and spirea as well bright green key limes. The 2 compotes flanked a large vase of soft peach french tulips.”

“The coordinating bouquet for this color palette was designed with a focus on texture and movement. White peonies, peach roses, raspberry anemones and dusty miller were complimented by green cymbidium orchids, queen annes lace and honeysuckle vine and the stems were wrapped with vintage ivory lace.”

“The second table featured a gorgeous tangerine silk dupioni linen and sparkling candelabra dripping with crystals another example of adding polish and sophistication to an otherwise primitive space,” states Jen of Embellish – a Walpole, NH area florist specializing in weddings and events.

“For the outdoor table overlooking the field, I used pieces from my vintage tea tin collection. I filled eclectic tins with gold sunflowers, rich pumpkin hued lilies and raspberry anemones.”

The coordinating aisle arrangements seen lining the edge of the barn were galvanized tins of sunflowers and waxflower and fresh moss.

“The bride’s bouquet corresponding to this vibrant sunset inspired color palette used the above blooms as well as cherry red geraniums, statice and lilac in rich purple, and cream double lisianthus accompanied by spirea and geranium foliage.”
